Sustainable public services will require far more private capital

Our CEO Danny Kruger has written in today’s Financial Times about the need for the social sector to work more imaginatively, and in tandem with the private sector. You can read the full article here.

FT“We need to look beyond the public sector. That means that the social sector — the complicated ecology of services and institutions that surround disadvantaged communities — needs to work far better.

“The charity I run, Only Connect, works with young people at risk of offending, in prisons and the community. We are not here to meet young people’s “needs” or address their “problems”, but to help them maximise their assets — their talents, creativity and natural resilience — by empowering them to sort their own lives out and make a positive contribution. We call our model “handshake not handout”. We work closely with local and national government, but are independent of it.”
